:: Teaching Support: A Guide for Training Staff in After-Abortion Emotional Support
This training guide contains information on after-abortion issues and useful exercises to help managers of health care agencies, particularly abortion providers, develop staff competency on after-abortion issues. The guide provides three, one-hour mini-trainings, including exercises and handouts, on the social-cultural context of abortion and counseling strategies. Download a PDF order form here.
:: Half Day Training in the S.F. Bay Area
Participants in this training will increase their knowledge and awareness of after-abortion issues, improve communication skills and learn practical methods for providing emotional support with limited time or resources. This is an in-service training that is ideal for 15 participants. If you would like to receive more information, please contact Exhale’s Program Director.
Exhale is also available to design a training specific to the needs of your organization or community. Additional topics that can be included in after-abortion counseling skills are cultural competency, crisis intervention, and self-care techniques for clients and staff. :: Exhale Brochures & Posters
You are welcome to print and make copies of Exhale’s brochures and posters (PDF format) to distribute to your clients. Many organizations place brochures in waiting rooms and bathrooms. Exhale encourages abortion providers to give information about Exhale, or other local post-abortion emotional health resources, to every woman who has an abortion. We believe providing women and men with the opportunity to get support for post-abortion feelings is an important part of post-abortion care.
