Articles

:: “Providing support after an abortion”, Aspen Baker, The Philadelphia Inquirer, May 22, 2006

:: “Overcoming Stigma: Talking Freely About Abortion”, by Aspen Baker, Center for American Progress, August 3, 2005

:: “Pro-Voice: A Framework For Communicating Personal Experiences with Abortion”, by Aspen Baker and Carolina De Robertis, May 2005

Excerpt: “From our inception in 2000, Exhale has worked to devise a framework that can ensure that each person’s unique experience with abortion is respected, supported, and free from stigma. Our goal is to provide women,girls, and their communities with a space in which their experiences, needs, and feelings are heard and valued – regardless of where they might fall on a
politicized spectrum. In order to reflect those feelings and meet those needs, we learned to operate in a new framework for abortion. The frame we developed, and operate in, is Pro-Voice.”

:: Community Perspectives Series

The Community Perspectives column, featured in Freedom to Exhale, is used to showcase a variety of viewpoints, issues and healthcare strategies on after-abortion needs. This column offers an important glimpse into the lives of women and men who experience abortion by highlighting the ways faith, culture, race, relationships, economic status and support systems influence the decision to have an abortion and the feelings that can arise afterward.
